The pictures came out a little blurry, which is how everything looked in real life, as well. It was a very wet and cold race. Despite the weather, there was a huge turnout. I was really surprised at the amount of runners that showed. We saw a lot of our friends there. When I finished, I ran into our friend Tushna, who had come out in the weather to watch us finish. She took this pictures of Mike, Reagan and myself. I was expecting to have a really crappy race, because of the weather, and because my ipod died while I was waiting in the starting grid. It ended up not being bad, at all. I was even pretty pleased with my time. As you can imagine, the kilt didn’t hold it’s pleats. Here are the rest of the photos.

I planned to mix it up this week, and break out of the early 90′s electronica stuff. But after adding a few “New Order” songs back in the commuting playlist, I remembered how much I like them. So, I’m sharing one of their songs today. Some interesting things about New Order, are: They used to be “Joy Division” (-1) until the lead singer, Ian Curits, committed suicide. Their single Blue Monday, is the best selling 12 inch single of all time. Despite having the distinct late 80′s/early 90′s sound, their music is still relevant. The particular song that I’m sharing today was released on the Technique album in 1989. It is called Fine Time. Check it out.

We had an awesome Easter, so far. Although brisk, the weather is very sunny today. Church was great. The music was inspiring. We were so excited to see Piper, that we skipped the last portion of our church meetings, and booked it up to Westchester. Reagan brought Easter cookies that she had made, for all of the nurses. It was kind of sad knowing that it was going to be our last weekend at Blythedale. But we had a great visit with Piper. For some reason, it was a little bit chilly in her room today. So it took her a long time to warm up after we gave her bath. That’s why she is a little bit blue in the photo below. My two girls looked incredibly cute together in their Easter dresses. Piper was super mellow and a lot of fun, the whole time we were there. The rest of the photos can be seen here.

Of course I had to mess around a bit with the new toy, as soon as I left work today. I’m still learning all of the functions, etc. The last SLR that I had was a hand-me-down from my dad. Everything was analog and I had to duct tape the film door, or else it would randomly pop open and ruin everything. Back to taking photos: Get ready to be slammed with 5 photos in one post. Sorry. The overcast light was crappy, but the blooming trees were still pretty in BPC–

Then, of course, some captive animals when I got home–

I’m pretty excited about this purchase that I made this morning. I didn’t end up getting a 50D, like I originally wanted But I think that a 40D will do just fine for now. Thanks everyone who hired me to work on their website, and those who donated to my camera fund. I’m tempted to just take the day off and go shoot! Whoopee!

The other day riding home from work, I was standing in front of this guy. It was one of those things where, I couldn’t help myself from staring. The man was chewing gum in a way that I had never seen it done before. I was able to sneak some incognito footage of it, while feigning to read something on the blackberry.

Here it is again. This time looped and laid over the track that was playing in my headphones. Maybe it isn’t funny to anyone else, but it almost seems like he was chewing along to the beat. Maybe I was just really tired.

I recieved a call from Piper’s social worker today. Barring any unforeseen kinks, Piper will be moving to New Jersey next Wednesday the 15th of April. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this transition. On one hand, we are really going to miss all of the people who we have come to know and have befriended at Blythedale. On the other hand, this feels like a step towards normalcy, being the place she is going, is a long term facility. Keep your fingers crossed for the little squirt, that she handles the transition smoothly.

They say never to trust a day with such clear skies, since September 11, 2001. But look at the weather today. It was already starting to get light when I went out at 6 A.M. this morning to move the car. It was warm enough that I could barely see my breath. I just hope that a little bit of the love from mother nature can carry over to  the weekend.

For whatever reason, I have been obsessed with taking pictures of graffiti, lately. Here are a couple of shots from Tribeca. I took them while wandering from one closed fabric store to the next.

Since the Scotland Homecoming 10k is this weekend, my friend Mike and I had been planning to make kilts for the event, beginning several weeks ago. Well, it finally materialized last night. I left work a little bit early to hit some of the fabric stores downtown. As luck would have it, EVERYTHING was closed for passover. So I hurried to the train, hoping that I could get uptown in time to hit a fabric store in my neighborhood before they closed for the evening. I lucked out and made it to a hole in the wall, on the east side of Washington Heights, a part of the neighborhood where they have never even heard of passover. Unfortunately they have never heard of plaid, either. So I had to settle for a semi-Scottish looking textile. The photo below is of me furiously sewing it together.

And… the finished product:  (feel free to answer the poll on the TV in the background. I was very pleased with the fortuitous timing of the photo. I’m voting “both”)

Reagan thinks that it looks nothing like a kilt. I told her it is a little bit different cut, than normal kilts, because it is a “running kilt.” I’m thinking about selling the pattern to these guys. Thanks for the tip, on the link, Jessie. Hahahah.
