Piper was ultra-mellow today. It was really fun to hang out and have her just relax with us. She was on the trache collar for most of our visit today. That may have had something to do with it. It seems like when she is doing trache collar, a lot of her energy is devoted toward breathing, which leaves less energy for her to do things like play finger puppets, stay awake, etc..

These are a couple of my favorite photos from today. Reagan and Piper had some good mommy daughter time today.

Nothing like taking off the shoes and kicking back on the floor.

Reagan and I had a really fun night tonight. It rained all day, so I had kind of written the day off and spent most of it catching up on sleep. She woke me up in the afternoon and suggested that we go out tonight. I got ready and was just kind of loafing around, when she wandered into the office asking me to check out her pony tail. I turned into a mini photo shoot, hahahaha. Plus, you have to love the red lipstick.

We caught an early movie at this little theater Reagan likes in SoHo, then did a little bit of shopping, and got burgers (Reagan’s was a veggie burger, of course).

Mo’ photos.

I have been wanting to do this for a while. I could have probably just ditched the skinny side bar that was on the left, but for some reason I like creating work for myself. I wanted to widen out the main content column, so that I could put wider photos in the posts. The biggest reason that I have been putting it off, is because these posts are syndicated into breinholts.com and another blog that I my family shares. So, I had to reformat those ones too, to prevent the photos from bleeding over onto the side bars. Anyway, it took me all night, and I’m tired now. So, good night.

If  you read Wired, then you probably already saw this thing. I thought it was so cool that I wanted to share it. The photo is of the “living wall” on the  Athenaeum Hotel in London. This wall is one of the several architectural/gardening hybrid creations by Patrick Blanc. The wall is covered with felt and mesh, in which the plants take root. There is a watering system that keeps the felt hydrated. I’m not sure who to credit this photo with, I just found it on Google images. Wired hasn’t published this article on the web, yet. But the photo that they have is incredible.

Blanc first dabbled with this idea, as a kid, when he suspended some plants on the wall in his bedroom, with the roots running into his aquarium. Aquariums and plants? I feel like I could be friends with this guy.

Last night Common played a show on Bower at Capitale. It was to promote a new Diesel fragrance. I’m sure that if you read magazines, you have seen the ads. Anyway, I was shooting the red carpet for SoJones. It worked out well, since Reagan had a girls night, tonight. It was the first time I have ever done something like that. It didn’t go as well as I had planned. First of all, it was raining on and off. So I’m sure that half of the people went in the back door. A few models came through before it really started coming down. I was there to photograph Common, but apparently he bypassed the carpet. Anyway, I ended up not even going to the show, because they were going to make me check my camera. I guess that they had already contracted with someone exclusively for the photos in the actual show. Anyway, here are a few of the shots that I got.

^—I forgot who this woman is, hahahaha. I’ll figure it out again by the time I publish these on Sojones. So you can check it out over there. (BTW, this is Sessilee Lopez [fashion model])

^—Olivia, again.

It was pretty fun. It would have been better if the weather wouldn’t have crapped out, and if Common would have come in the front door.

I was clearing off the memory card this morning and found this gem from Sunday. It is from our visit Sunday morning, before dropping my dad at the airport. Piper was sporting a Coolio-esqe (or maybe ODB) hair style. It was pretty cute. She was clearly loving it, showing off her little Brit teeth and all.

He is alive and well, riding the A train. I have actually seen this 2-seat dude on the A train, a hand full of times, now. He always has his ipod cranked so loud that everyone can hear it, as he mouths the words and does that head-bob, that only really huge guys can do. I have been tempted to get a shot of him in the past, but never followed through. Yesterday, though, I couldn’t resist.

Yes, it is what it looks like. The dude has both of his hands down the front of his pants.

I was totally busted snapping this pic, too. I forgot to disable the automatic flash on the b-berry cam, hahahah. The train was totally crowded and everyone saw me snapping a shot of Biggie with his hands in his pants, including Biggie.

drunkboots

I really enjoyed this multi-page Tommy Hilfiger ad. It depicts some young guys (maybe interns or pages) wandering around Capitol Hill in suits. Not bad. But then upon turning the page, it shows the footwear. Elastic-side 3/4 high boots. From any perspective, I’m pretty sure that consensus would be that these boots are dubiously appropriate for a business formal ensemble. But for me personally, the idea is even more entertaining.

During my years in Brazil, we called this particular variety of footwear “Drunk Boots.” They were the most inexpensive footwear available. They are easy to get on and off, even when inebriated and they are totally ugly. For these reasons, they are the preferred footwear of the homeless/drunk population where I was in Brazil. In Sao Paulo, you can find these boots on the feet of  90% of every yellow-eyed homeless pingado around.

But hey, if Hilfiger says it works, it works.

7L and Esoteric are a hip hop group out of Boston.  They rhyme about Jamie Lee Curtis and Wookies. I like them. Here is Feudal Lords (feat. Nejel Mongrel) (be forewarned, it has the “s” word).

This shot comes from Jef Aerosol’s Flickr (who is also apparently the artist). I cracked up, when I first saw this shot. I love the way that Brando is totally straight faced. I also like it because Reagan and I are such fans of Vespas. I can’t tell if this is painted or wheatpaste. Either way, it is pretty cool.
