Piper did remember, today. Phew! She was in a great mood when we arrived. I feel like she is getting better and better at walking. She has to hold on to stuff, but I think that she enjoys being mobile on her feet. Today she kept making the rounds between me, Reagan and the bottom of her crib. She would take stuff out, put it back, then come over and sit on my lap to play with whatever she had found under her crib.

One of Piper’s favorite things, lately is when we lay on the ground. She basically mauls us the same way that a puppy would. Except instead of licking, she just gets cozy by laying her head on our face, or sitting on our head.

Ultimately, she got tuckered out and came over for her favorite nap spot– me. She snored and sqeaked in her sleep a little bit, until we tucked her in and headed out.

Here are a few more from our visit, today.

After our visit, we headed home for a quick nap, then I headed down to the Altman, to shoot a B-boy battle. It was ridiculous. I felt like I was in 4th grade again, watching Turbo and Ozone for the first time. Here are a couple of my faves:

7-31training

This week, I earned an F. I only ran 2 of the 7 runs that were scheduled. It would have been a super easy week, with my longest scheduled run only being 9 miles. Oh well. I guess if I was going to be sick, this was the week to do it. I did step it up a bit today, though by doing close to 10 miles, when the training program only had 2 scheduled.  It was only supposed to be a 7 miles run. Reagan and I ran most of it together. We decided to do some speed work coming back across the bridge. I said that I would wait for her back on the Manhattan side. So I waited for 10 minutes. I knew that she wasn’t 10 minutes behind me. So I started getting really worried that she had been hit by a bike or something and ran back across. I got all of the way to Jersey and figured out that she must have found some sneaky way to elude me after coming back across. So I started my watch again and headed back. She was home waiting for me with Gatorade. :) Such a sneaky little devil.

The best part about today, is that I felt about 80% better. I should have no problem doing the 10.5 m scheduled for tomorrow morning, at my normal pace. Hopefully this will be the last F that I earn.

Despite being ill, I went for a run Wednesday night, against my better judgment. I definitely paid for it. I felt like death, when I got home, then woke up the next day even more congested. Today I’m feeling a bit better, but I’m going to play it safe and wait until Saturday to pick up again with the training. Cross your fingers for me, that I will wake up tomorrow sans congestion.

Even though this was a relatively uneventful week, I’m really looking forward to the weekend. The biggest reason is because I haven’t been able to see Piper since weekend before last. I’m really excited to go spend some time with the little cutie, this weekend (I hope she still remembers me, hehe).

We have a couple of other fun items lined up for the weekend. Friday night, our friends Shakedown are playing at Pete’s Candy Store in Bk. Hopefully we will make it out to see that one. I actually used to play bass with them until Yoko, AKA Reagan came along and they had to throw me out, Hahahaha. Just joking about the Reagan/Yoko thing– mostly.

Saturday night, there is a b-boy battle at the Altman. I’m picturing various scenes from Style Wars, and hoping that Saturday night ends up being as cool as the movie.

I’m going a bit stir crazy with this cold that I developed over the weekend. The weather, since we have been back in NYC has been ideal summer running weather and I haven’t been able to take advantage. It’s kind of putting me on edge. It has been intensified by the fact that my subway-read, this week has been “Born to Run.” Thanks for that, Becca and Carl. I’m really enjoying it (except for the part where they trash talk Dean Karnazes).

It has been a relatively slow week at work, which is always nice to come back to, after some leisure time. All of the down time has allowed me to try my hand at a little bit of video editing. When we were in SC, we shot some video for Reagan’s hair blog. I have always been a bit too self conscious to try and actually create some sort of video production, aside from the occasional tongue-in-cheek time lapse. Anyway, I put together a little tutorial of Reagan styling hair. You can check it out over here. I have to say that I wasn’t completely disappointed, given my sub-par editing software, and the fact that it was my first crack at it. More importantly, Reagan was pleased with it.

Speaking of videos– I saw this thing over the weekend, and loved it. The commentary is a bit lame. But the tarp surfing, is excellent. It reminds me of some of the sports that we used to come up with as kids, to stay un-bored. I kind of wish that we would have thought of this one. My favorite part is when the dude gets a tow-in from the dog.  I also like that they are skating the Santa Cruz LB that I was perving on, in March. Must…. get…. well…

thedeadmilkmen

Until I did a little bit of research for this article, I never really knew if the Dead Milkmen were really a spoof or not. I thought about it last night when one of my line servers asked me the question: “If you could see any band or artist alive or dead, in the prime of their career, who would it be?” I had to think about it a little bit. I was thinking that I felt like I had seen most of the shows that I really wanted to see. I had even been on 18 hour road trips where we drove, saw that show, and drove back in order to make it fit around my work schedule. Anyway, after about 10 minutes, it hit me, The Dead Milkmen. Yep these guys are on the list of bands that I wished I could have seen, but most likely never will… The two songs that I have to name drop when talking about this band are “Punk Rock Girl,” and “Bitchin’ Camarro.” Most people have heard one or the other. I like them both just fine, but also love most of the other stuff these guys put out… there are a couple that I listen to more than others… If I was at a show, this is one that I would yell out before the encore in hopes of hearing it directly from the source. Enjoy.

Get ready for another massive pile of photos, hehe. Early Saturday, Reagan and I visited an old plantation (above). The skies were insanely blue and loaded up with little cloud puffs. We thought that the whole thing was pretty cool. But we especially enjoyed hanging out on the quiet cotton dock, where we saw some dolphins goofing off, in the river. Later that day, we took a little chartered sailing trip (below). The skipper ended up being one of Jon’s friends from school.

Captain Greg was as cool and mellow as they come. The conditions were perfect. After the experience, I would have to say that when it comes to sailing, believe the hype.

Below, are a few shots from our jaunt to the beach. Reagan wins the awkward pose award for the shot on the right.

And finally, here is one from the crab bake. Did I mention that we played horseshoes? Reagan got a ringer her first try ever. I’m not making that up.

Thanks again Jon and Kat, for such a fun and relaxing trip. Can’t wait to do it again. We also did this, while we were there.

I should lower my grade even more, for posting this thing 2 days late. Anyway, better late than never, I suppose. Grade for the week= C-. I started out the week well, but as can be seen above, I only did 10 miles of the 17 mile run that was scheduled for Saturday. Granted, I was on vacation– but still.. I had intentions of running the full distance. But, I was on a treadmill, and the ipod died after 3 or 4 miles and it was just wayyyyyyyyyyyy too boring. Plus I was missing out on fun activities. I’m predicting another poor grade, this week. I say that because I didn’t run at all Sunday, and now I have come down with a cold, so I’m missing Monday, too. Win some, lose some.

I recently was lucky enough to be he recipient of a cool little waterproof camera, just in time to take it on vacation with us. I also just recently upgraded my Vimeo account to be able to embed HD. So, to kick things off right, I though that I would post a quick video of me surfing in SC. It was shot by our friend Jon, whose board I am also riding. Thx, Jon. Here is the vid:

Tomorrow… sailing.

Reagan and I were doing it up Bklyn-style, last night and a Converse promo featuring Kid Cudi et al. It is kind of fun when I can bring Reagan along to gigs like those, because we always spend some time just goofing off. There are just a few more items that I have to knock out, today– then I can start packing for vacation! Woo Hoo. We worked it out, so that we can go visit PJ together tonight, before we fly out. I’m pretty amped about that (a’course). I’m so ready to finally be able to take advantage of the beach weather. Something tells me that my running regimen is going to suffer a bit over the next few days. Hehe.

A few more shots from last night:

Also, I didn’t realize until I saw the flier in this shot that MIA is playing with Die Antwoord at Guv’s Island. Whaaaaa??????????????? And it’s going down the weekend that we are fuera, of course. Speaking of Die Antwoord, I hear a rumor that Yo Landi Visser might be cast in the Hollywood version of “Girl with the Dragon Tatoo.”

One more thing..  Reagan authored a guest post, that ran today on one of her favorite blogs. Apparently, she was asked to articulate what it is like, having to leave after visits with PJ. I think that Reagan did a pretty swell job. So, if you get a chance and are interested, feel free to pop over.
