It has been an interesting 4 years, filled with the good the bad and the sublime. Here’s hoping for many, many more.

I picked up Reagan from the airport this morning and we headed straight  to Westchester, to hangout with Piper. When we arrived, it was still pretty early in the morning so she wasn’t awake yet. When we woke her up it was pretty obvious that she was excited to hang out, because she didn’t even have her normal groggy period where she doesn’t play. Instead Piper went straight to smiles and giggles.

Reagan picked up  these little bear dolls for Piper, in Michigan. They were definitely a hit.

To top it off we played with some robot stickers, which she also adored. It was a pretty great morning.

It is especially happy for me, since I will be seeing Reagan and Piper today. It is also kind of a big Sunday, because it is the first day of the week that contains both, Reagan’s birthday (Friday), and our anniversary (Monday). And now, some photos of snow and ice on the fire escape:

This was a real treat to dig out. At least I had the shovel that I bought Reagan for Christmas.

I was really excited to see Piper today. After freeing Greta from her snowy moorings, I found it impossible to navigate the streets of our neighborhood. Almost all of the taxis are rear wheel drive. Since everyone digging out their cars, where just throwing the snow into the street (because where else can you throw it?) taxis were stuck all over the place. After trying to get the the parkway entrance for about 45 minutes, I saw someone pulling out of a spot they had just cleared, about two car lengths in front of me. I decided that I should probably just take the spot and hope for better luck tomorrow. That is just kind of how things have been for me, the last couple of days. Yes, I’m complaining, a little bit. Sorry.

I finished the latest issue of GQ on the train yesterday. All in all, it was a pretty crappy issue. The feature story was about about the “25 coolest athletes” of all time. The only action sports athlete that they mentioned was Kelly Slater. I have to agree with GQ on that one. But I feel like there are plenty who should have made the list, that didn’t.  Anyway, the issue got off to a bad start because there was no introductory article from Jim Nelson. Nelson’s monthly contribution is basically my favorite part of the mag.

After finishing the last article and uttering my final “meh,” I closed the magazine and looked at the back cover. On it, I saw an ad for Hennessy (above). See if you can identify the artist painting in the background of the ad image. That’s right. It’s El Mac. The videos that the ad is prompting people to watch on Facebook, are all of the Hennessy Artistry (in which Mac does not appear once, BTW). Ummmmm, check out what I covered at the bottom of that same post about El Mac. Correct, the NYC iteration of the Hennessy Artistry tour. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the freaking twilight zone, or something.

In other news, the huge ice chunks are back in the Hudson (maybe I’ll get a shot of them this weekend), but it hasn’t snowed one time yet today. Fingers crossed!

Sick of the snow photos, yet?  I shot a couple of galleries tonight. Some of it was cool, but not worth posting on JNB.  I’m currently feeling super uninspired. FYI sunset shots are through an extremely dirty window (don’t hate). 2 days until Reagan is back, not that I’m counting down. Ok, maybe. Here are a couple of other shots from today/tonight. And that’s basically I gotst.

Last night I had a pretty fun editorial shoot for Edwin Jeans, using hip hop artist Gilbere Forte as the model. Here is a sample:

Reagan was able to get to Michigan, safe and sound. Today is another blizzard, to liven up my already hectic day. That’s pretty much the gist of what’s going on over here.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have said it before about the Swedish and their rock/indie pop. I have been digging Miike Snow since the first time that I heard “Animal,” last spring. BTW, of all of the countless remixes of Animal, my favorite is still the one on the tarp surfing video (a mix that I still have not been able to figure out the name of). The track that I’m sharing today is called “Cult Logic.”  Enjoy.

And when it is cold like this, Reagan wears her huge hairy hat. She has been playing a fun little game where he tries to do outfit posts each day leading up to her b-day. It has been kind of fun shooting some of them for her, for the 3 days this month that she has been in town. Ok, I guess a few more than 3 (barely). We shot the image above* walking home, after parking the car Saturday. Best part about the image: Reagan is still rocking her “Visitor” badge from Piper’s house.

Alas, I will begin bachelor life again tomorrow. Reagan will be headed to the midwest to meet the new baby of one of her close friends. I feel like she just got back from her last trip. On the bright side, I am booked so deep this week that it should fly by. I’m actually starting to feel tired just from writing about it. I’ll be shooting a few projects that I’m pretty excited about though.

*As an uninteresting side note, I snapped the shot above with our new (old) 5D. I picked it up off of CL, intending to give it to Reagan for her B-day. I learned from her that same day that she actually wanted something completely different. Since I had scored the 5D for such a great price, I decided to keep it for a back-up body/walk around cam. I have only used it handful of times (as ZT perceptively noticed when I posted this shot), but I really like it.

When we rolled up to Piper’s house on Sunday, Reagan asked Piper if she felt like having a haircut. Piper seemed a bit uncertain about it (see above). Reagan went into full salon mode, breaking out the wash/rinse basins etc..

After Piper’s hair was all squeaky clean, Reagan got down to cutting.
