Just some stuff that I shot during my rainy commute today. I don’t even mind the rain, as long as it stays warm. Ah spring.

Even though the image on the right isn’t dialed in as much as I would have liked, I felt like these images were worth posting. They are from this shoot, which I really enjoyed (I especially love the shot of Eddie next to the punching bag).

As for giveaway No.6, thanks to everyone who participated. It seems like there are a lot of people with an opinion about Warhol’s work. It’s always interesting to hear all sides. I randomly chose two winners. They are Dakota and Amanda. So, hit me up with your shipping info and I’ll get them right out to you. I guess whoever responds first can choose which one they would like.

This past weekend was a bit of a crazy one. It started on Friday, shooting a Krink and G-shock collaborative installation on Wooster (above, and below– more looks on shotbyjake). Saturday was madness, but Reagan and I were able to get a lot of overdue tasks out of the way. One of these items was picking up a Fedex (we don’t have a door man), which happened to be Reagan’s passport. We also sneaked in a couple of quick tutorial video shoots on Saturday evening. Woot! Sunday Morning we ran a 10k in Central Park. It was a good reminder of how out of shape I am. The weather is supposed to be half way reasonable this week. So, I’m hoping to get myself back on a schedule.

We spent the rest of the day kicking it with Piper. She was asleep when we arrived. But she woke up when she heard Reagan talking. We had a good visit. But, believe it or not, we didn’t really shoot any photos with Piper this weekend. So lame, I know. Hopefully Reagan will be able to get a few tomorrow during her visit.

One more kind of fun thing that I did in the last couple days was shoot this vid for Radcollector.com–

We have had a tough couple of days around the B-holt residence. I’m sure that I’ll eventually get to that in a later post. But we have definitely been staying busy. I shot some pretty interesting stuff (to me) on Friday and Saturday. I come from a family with a strong quilting heritage. I don’t know to what extent is has carried over to my generation. But, it seems like there was always some quilt that my mom (and usually at least one of her sisters) was working on, when I was growing up. My grandmother on my father’s side (who just turned 90 on Saturday), still makes a quilt for every new great-grandkid in the family (FYI, there are more than I can count on 50 fingers). If that’s not enough, we get it from Reagan’s side too. Both of our mom’s always run into each other at state quilt guild conventions. Yes, both of our mom’s are active members of the Utah State Quilt Guild. I personally think that is pure awesome. So, it is safe to say that I was raised to appreciate the art of quilting and the significance in American heritage and Culture. I’ll be honest though, I never thought I would be shooting or blogging about quilts. Buuuuuttttt, it just so happens that the American Folk Art Museum is currently holding an exhibition of American red and white quilts at the Park Avenue Armory. I ended up shooting it for Curated Mag. I was blown away. Not saying that these photos do it any justice, but scroll down for a couple of more looks.

Ok, if you made it this far down the post, then maybe you will be interested in what I shot on Saturday morning. HS teamed up with Nike for an editorial story featuring the new Kobe collection, at a little league soccer game in the Bronx. The game was at 11:30 and I was worried that everything would be washed out with the sun that high in the sky. I guess it is lucky (for me) that we are still in early spring, because I don’t feel like the images came out that bad. I just hope that the people whose opinion matters, feel the same. Here are a few–

This last one had nothing to do with the product, but I just like the wide shot with the green turf and blue sky.

Last night we ended up at a party at the top of the Standard. I went there once during a Fashion Week event, but never at night. The view was great. I was glad that I had a camera with me.

Reagan was running around with her friends goofing off the entire time. I was waiting to get a call from her that they had been thrown out. It’s a good thing that our friend Jen, who invited us, is kind of a big deal (<—spoken in the voice of Ron Burgundy) in the context of the party (and in general).

One more city shot. I didn’t like that there was so much window glare in this one. But I did like the fog and the Empire State Building.

Last night was the super moon. To be perfectly honest, it didn’t appear any larger to me than it has on previous occasions. But, it was very very bright. We were on the roof when it rose, and it was a very dark shade of yellow from all of the pollution. It was kind of a cool effect. I got a couple of shots when it was low in the sky, but I wasn’t super stoked about any of them. I did, however, quite like the one that I posted above. This was shot after the moon was much higher in the sky. Here are a few other times that I have shot the moon from our house: one time and another time.

Earlier Saturday evening, we were shooting some tutorials for Reagan’s hair blog. There was a cat on the fire escape that was meowing super loud. I think that it must have wandered up and become stuck. Anyway, we finally let it in, so that it would shut up. We immediately thought better of it. So, we put it back out. The cat then leaped from the fire escape to the sill of an adjacent window that was open (at least 3 or 4 feet away). and came back in.

Ultimately, I had to carry it down stairs and put it back out into the alley.

Backing up, a bit– Friday was beautiful. The high was well into the 70′s. I thought about going for an evening run, but then had a better idea. I called a couple of friends and we had a longboarding session in Central Park. I also brought along a little hand-held video camera (same one Jon used to shoot this), and some L.E.D. panels. I have been wanting to shoot a longboarding video since I saw this one, that I posted the other day. So, I figured I could get some ideas, shooting with the crappy camera for when we really go back and do it right. I think that having the moon out was key. Anyway, here is what we shot Friday night.

It is a rainy Friday in this neck of the woods. It has been a rough couple of days. Our hosting has been on the fritz. We were offline for about half of the day, yesterday. So freaking annoying. Anyway, I shot this pretty cool thing at the Reed Space last night. I picked up a shirt from the event, featuring some of the artist’s work. Then I promptly left it somewhere. Then it started raining. When I got home, I had to run right back out into the rain to get some gatorade and crackers for my sickly little wife (who is finally feeling better this morning). And it is still raining. But all of that is ok, because it is once again Friday. Friday means reprieve. The photos above and below are just some crap that I snapped last night while I was waiting for the F train at Delancey. I liked the bokeh that the track signals made.

Here is a link to some of the stuff that I shot for NYFW, this time around. One show to go– Rochambeau at the Standard. It has been wild, crazy and fun. But, I’m excited to have my normal life back. Hey, I think I might go running.

Friday night we went out for Reagan’s birthday. We had dinner at Dos Caminos in in the MPD, then spent the rest of the night at a little lounge around the corner. I really like the photo below because of the deer in the headlights effect.

I finished the latest issue of GQ on the train yesterday. All in all, it was a pretty crappy issue. The feature story was about about the “25 coolest athletes” of all time. The only action sports athlete that they mentioned was Kelly Slater. I have to agree with GQ on that one. But I feel like there are plenty who should have made the list, that didn’t.  Anyway, the issue got off to a bad start because there was no introductory article from Jim Nelson. Nelson’s monthly contribution is basically my favorite part of the mag.

After finishing the last article and uttering my final “meh,” I closed the magazine and looked at the back cover. On it, I saw an ad for Hennessy (above). See if you can identify the artist painting in the background of the ad image. That’s right. It’s El Mac. The videos that the ad is prompting people to watch on Facebook, are all of the Hennessy Artistry (in which Mac does not appear once, BTW). Ummmmm, check out what I covered at the bottom of that same post about El Mac. Correct, the NYC iteration of the Hennessy Artistry tour. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the freaking twilight zone, or something.

In other news, the huge ice chunks are back in the Hudson (maybe I’ll get a shot of them this weekend), but it hasn’t snowed one time yet today. Fingers crossed!

Happy Friday!
