This week I shot a very cool installation at the Park Avenue Armory for Curated Mag. The artist is Ryoji Ikeda. See the full set of images over here. I also put together a short video, below. Don’t watch it if you are prone to seizures. It runs through Saturday. So if you are in NYC, definitely check it out in person.

I had a chance over the weekend to throw together some of the video footage that we shot while on vacay. As I was going through it, I already missed being over there. We had such a great time. I kind of wish that I would have shot a bit more video, just so that we could properly reminisce. Anyway, here is what I came up with.

I also went back through the photos and had a chance to properly edit them (on a normal sized calibrated monitor). Here is a link to the Spain photos. Here is a link to the Paris photos.

To celebrate the latest Beastie album, our favorite Burlington based DJ, DJ A Dog, who you may remember from the B-Movie post a couple of years ago. I love the original song and video. I think that I might like A Dog’s take almost as much. As an interesting (to probably no one by me) side note, I ran into Ricky Powell (the official Def Jam photographer from the 80′s) last week at a thing that I was shooting. I actually got some pretty awesome photos of him. I’m hoping to be able to share them, later. For now, Peep this vid.

I’m so glad that this week is coming to a close. A lot of going to bed late and getting up early catches up to you at some point. Hopefully I will be able to get in some Easter napping action over the weekend.

..And now, video time. Whenever Reagan and I talk about having more kids, she almost always brings up twins. It’s generally some statement like “man, I wish we could just have a set of twins, then we could be done.” I generally respond by questioning her sanity. We have some friends and family with twins, and I’m always amazed at how they are able to manage.

Today I saw this video and decided that I think I might want twins, too. Hehehe

Have a great weekend.

Pure Awesome. If you are as big of a Beastie Boys fan (nerd) as me, then you probably can’t wait to watch the 30 minute film “Fight for your Right Revisited,” tonight. According to the B-Boys website,

Tonight at midnight EST, tune in to MTV 2, mtvU, VH1 or VH1 Classic to watch the full 30 minute version of Beastie Boys’ “Fight For Your Right Revisited.” It airs again 3 hours later on Palladia, and uncensored on Comedy Central at 3 AM EST. If you wanna, check in to the premiere on GetGlue at http://bit.ly/fKmViB and you can unlock a Beastie Boys sticker thingy.”

If you are like me, then you usually don’t bother watching an art video until it has showed up in your feed 4 or 5 times. It was the case with the northern lights video that I posted a few weeks ago, and it is the case again with the video in this post. So, if this is the 4th or 5th time you are seeing someone post this video, I’ll vouch for the fact that it is not a waste of 2 minutes.

On the Vimeo page, the author, Beepshow explains: “I shot a photo roughly every two miles between take-off in San Francisco and landing in Paris CDG to make this airplane time lapse.” I was wondering how he/she was able to be so consistent with the camera position. Apparently the Beepshow had the whole row to him/herself and was able to setup a tripod with an interval controller running the shutter. Pure awesome.

This past weekend was a bit of a crazy one. It started on Friday, shooting a Krink and G-shock collaborative installation on Wooster (above, and below– more looks on shotbyjake). Saturday was madness, but Reagan and I were able to get a lot of overdue tasks out of the way. One of these items was picking up a Fedex (we don’t have a door man), which happened to be Reagan’s passport. We also sneaked in a couple of quick tutorial video shoots on Saturday evening. Woot! Sunday Morning we ran a 10k in Central Park. It was a good reminder of how out of shape I am. The weather is supposed to be half way reasonable this week. So, I’m hoping to get myself back on a schedule.

We spent the rest of the day kicking it with Piper. She was asleep when we arrived. But she woke up when she heard Reagan talking. We had a good visit. But, believe it or not, we didn’t really shoot any photos with Piper this weekend. So lame, I know. Hopefully Reagan will be able to get a few tomorrow during her visit.

One more kind of fun thing that I did in the last couple days was shoot this vid for Radcollector.com–

As many know, I am married to a hair ninja. We started a little site for her, a year ago this month. Occasionally we shoot tutorial videos, where Reagan drops heaps of knowledge about hairstyling. This is our latest one. A few things to point out: There was a cat on the fire escape that wouldn’t shut up until we let it inside. Even though I sped up some sections and cut it way down, this video is still almost 20 minutes long. So, I guess the next one will probably be feature film length, hahahaha. Anyway, if you are looking for some new blow drying skills, check it out.

Check out this awesome video that my sister sent me of my little niece Maya singing (Beastie Boys’) Paul Revere during breakfast. Apparently when she isn’t skating, she is spitting hip hop. This girl know the formula for awesome.

This video has been going around since the beginning of the week. I think it is freaking amazing. I have talked about it with a few people, and apparently a lot of people still haven’t seen it. So, I’m re-posting. It was shot with a 5D MkII in 1080. So, feel free to check it out in full screen view for maximum amazement. I remember once when I was young I saw the northern lights one time when I was camping with my dad. It was amazing. We could hear them too, which was really weird. The ones that we saw were red. And although they were pretty amazing (I still remember it 20ish years later), they were nothing compared to what Terje Sorgjerd shot in this video.
