Saturday was Piper’s birthday. I can’t really even believe it, she turned 4. We headed up to her house bright and early, and arrived just as she was waking up. Reagan dressed her in her new little yellow dress and flowery crown (that Reagan made, btw). She was also rocking some new little sunglasses from her grandma b-holt. The weather was phenomenal for hanging around outside. So we sat out on the lawn and chatted/played for a while. When it started to get overcast, we took PJ inside and played with her until she was all tuckered out. It was a really fun time. It was especially cool to have her Baker grandparents and her uncle Jesse in town, as well as her great aunt Gail, who Piper met for the first time. There are a boat load of photos below. There are even more over here.

Friday night we went out for Reagan’s birthday. We had dinner at Dos Caminos in in the MPD, then spent the rest of the night at a little lounge around the corner. I really like the photo below because of the deer in the headlights effect.

This shot is from the other night when we were doing tutorials. She told me that she was trying to pose like the photographers used to make the kids do on school picture day. Perfect.

Well, I’m road-tripping right now. But, I didn’t want to have dead air on jakesnewblog during the entire time. So, I queued up a few items to post while we are driving. This is the first one. We may or may not have internetz, where we are going. If we do, then please feel free to expect an update from the deep south in the coming days. If not, I’ll fill everyone in when we return. Anyway, stay tuned Friday for a video that Reagan and I made for her family reunion. It doesn’t really make much sense, but it can be mildly entertaining, if you enjoy Reagan’s flavor of spazziness.

So yeah, we went out for my birthday the other night. It was nice. Just myself and Reagan. We forgot how much fun the point and shoot can be. You can prop it up on just about anything for a timer shot. And arms length shots are a snap (though unfortunately the lens distortion makes my already large nose appear to be even more bulbous hahaha). Of course we took it to the extreme. So, if you find yourself gagging right now (because of the abundance of corn-fed sappiness going on), go ahead and ctrl+alt+f4 your way out of here before you lose your lunch. Otherwise, feel free to scroll down to view a few more shots.

Piper’s B-day party was a blast. All of the kids in her little school class hung out and ate cupcakes together, in their fancy Reagan-made party hats.

Piper even thought about trying a cupcake of her own. She didn’t get far though. She ended up just doing some finger painting on her dress with the frosting. Hahahaha.

After the party, Piper went back to her room and opened all of her new b-day gifts. As a bonus surprise, Aunt Jody was able to come hang out! Reagan’s good friend Holly also came to participate in the festivities.

After all of that birthday action, Piper was ready to snuggle up with her favorite blanky and take a nice b-day nap.

Yes, I posted photos of cookie dough. Hahahah. Sorry to be getting all mommy-blogger up in here. But I’m currently confined to the office while Reagan is baking up a storm, and making other preparations for a very special B-day tomorrow. I’m referring, of course, to Piper’s birthday. She turns a solid three years old, tomorrow. It is pretty amazing how far she has come. Here is a shot of her on the day she was born.

Friday should be pretty fun. Reagan is having a little party for the kids in Piper “school” class. Reagan’s sister will also be in town for the event, and for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday is the Brooklyn Half-Marathon. Wish us luck!

As part of our little B-day date, we went to the NYC Ballet. Apparently all of Reagan’s famous clients aren’t just on TV and stuff. She has some that are in the fine arts, as well. One of them happens to play in the orchestra for the NYC Ballet, and gave her some pretty amazing tix for her birthday. Here is a shot of Reagan after she got all dolled up for the show:

I mean, we were literally on the front row. I have never had such great seats at a show that wasn’t GA.

I actually felt kind of white trashy sneaking these shots inside of Lincoln Center, but I had to do it.

Since we didn’t really get to do much fun stuff on Reagan’s birthday, I told her that we could do whatever she wanted on Saturday. She chose to go to the Brooklyn Flea Market. It was quite a site to behold. The market is traditionally held outside. But for the winter, they moved it into the old Williamsburg Bank building. It is like a gigantic hipster garage sale.

There were a couple of things that I thought were pretty cool. Almost all of the booths had some vinyl LPs for sale. I found the original “Breakin’” soundtrack on vinyl. In the end, I decided that $5 was more than I was willing to drop, for that beauty. I still thought it was a pretty cool find.

Sorry for all of the lengthwise shots. Here is one more of my favs.

Reagan asked me to take some birthday photos of her.

We decided to go up on the roof and try to get some cool backlit stuff, since it was late afternoon. It was kind of a warmish afternoon (above 34 degrees), so we had kind of a fun little shoot. It is so cute the way that Reagan just kind of tells me how she wants the photos to look, then she just walks around looking adorable.

We had such a great weekend with Piper’s Baker grandparents in town. It was tough to send them off today. I’m not sure if Piper is going to like Reagan or me as much, unless one of us gets some glasses for Piper to mess with, while we are holding her. We had a really great visit with her this afternoon. Of course she went completely nuts over her new birthday videos.

After hanging out with her grandparents for a few days in a row, she wasn’t being shy anymore. She was giving away little grins left and right. Thanks again to everyone who helped make Piper’s 2nd B-day such a great one.
