It is so nice to come home from my first day of work this week, and already have the week well under way. I’m hoping that the rest of this week blasts by with equal speed. I’m so looking forward to all of the FNO activities, this Friday. And why not toss in a couple of additional photos from the weekend? Above, some product shots for IPATH. Thanks again, Sam A.

Below: Reagan decided to be our pace woman on the Sunday morning jaunt through CT. She rode Mike’s track bike and carried our water. Look at those guns!

On a completely unrelated note: For dinner tonight, I made a cheese and bean quesadilla, with two burrito sized tortillas, then rolled it up and ate it like a burrito. Feel free to try it out. It was awesome.

I mean, look at this thing:

I have complained about New York City’s lack of authentic Mexican food, on more than one occasion. Several kind people have made suggestions of restaurants to try. The suggestions usually did end up leading to some pretty good food. But, I think that maybe after seeing the photo above (purchased from a taco truck in the bay area, CA),  it will be a little more clear what I’m looking for. I feel like I shouldn’t have to go all of the way to Cali to get a $5 Tijuana-special carne asada. Thanks to Zach for documenting the very thing that I have been searching so diligently for in the city that supposedly has everything.

Speaking of diligently searching. I was finally able to track this down, late Wednesday night.

I think that I’m going to start evaluating my running on a weekly basis, assigning a letter grade each Friday. I came up with that idea, because this week I earned an F-. It is only Friday, but I can already make that assessment, since today was my first run, since last Friday. So, from here on out, I can only improve. My grade will be based on, how many days I run (ideally 6, per week); how many miles, how many gorgeous mornings I wasted by hitting snooze, etc..  I’m hoping to keep the grading thing going at least until after marathon season, this fall.

It has been a rough week, weather-wise, and I’m still battling blisters from my new sneaks. Just the same, I have been reading about all of my friends out west who have been battling through the snow, on their runs. So, I don’t really feel like the weather excuse is holding up so well.

On a positive note, my goal to run 500 miles between 1-22-10 and 1-22-11 seems to be going fairly well.

500mgoal

According to my little Nike Plus chart, I’m almost 34 miles ahead of schedule, as of today. Something to feel good about, I guess. But seriously, the thing that gets me going the most, is all of the positivity from my friends who also run. I think that you guys are so awesome. I know that running isn’t a team sport, in the traditional sense. But, it really motivates me to feel like I’m a part of the running community. Kind of nerdy/sappy, I know.

Anyway, to wrap up this post, here is some entertainment. The shot below is from the Central Park Conservancy 4 mi. race, weekend before last. Look how awesome that guy in the Five Fingers looks. I almost want to get a pair, just so I can look more hard core.

I think that Reagan is making burritos for dinner. Heaven.

I had a really fun day hanging out with my valentines. Reagan and I work up early, because she has been building pork barbacoa for the last day and a half. She has been making the stuff in the slow cooker, for some burritos tonight. It smells totally delicious. Before heading to Westchester, we took a quick jaunt out to Williamsburg, Brooklyn so that Reagan could pick up her Valentines Day present at Catbird.

We had a pretty nice visit with Piper. She was kind of rowdy. I think that it is just because she loves her mom so much, she can’t contain herself. She was kind of obsessed with my hat, today. She kept taking it almost all of the way off of my head, then putting it back on. Then, tapping the little button on the top. Silly little monkey.

I hope that everyone else had a great Valentines Day!!

People tend to get stir crazy, when they are sick and it is too cold spend any sort of quality time out doors. We do, anyway. Saturday, it was barely in the double digits outside, and it felt even colder because of the wind. Reagan had an appt on the UWS early in the afternoon. I decided to pick her up afterward, so that I could say I had been out of the house, hahaha. When we were trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the evening, I came up with this kind of corny idea about making some miniature ppl and photographing them. There were a few things that I have seen recently that gave me the idea. There was this thing that I saw on Boing Boing. There was also a thing that I saw on a blog kept by some of our acquaintances from Harlem. Finally, let’s not forget this Seth Green-esque weirdness.

So, we stopped by the Michael’s on the UWS and picked up some FIMO, then picked up some burritos at Ch#$%$, and headed home. Kelly, I would like you to know that per your fine fine suggestion, I have now added a burrito tag and category.

We made various little models, so that we could have a few options of scenarios, to shoot.

By the time that we finished building all of the little guys, and baking them in the oven, we were kind of running out of energy to get really fancy with the photos. But, we did have a lot of fun with the underwater scenario (shot in the fish tank). Reagan suspended a little scuba diver and mermaid from some of her hair. Yes, she tied one of her hairs around them (her idea [an awesome one]). Hahahaha. The baby convicts and the gold fish were the funniest part about it. They were so incredibly curious about what was going on, that they are in just about every shot. Look how curious the little convicts are in the shot below, when Reagan first dropped in the mermaid.

Ok, so here is the real ripoff. Our friend Zach always puts together these awesome time-lapse videos of stuff that they do. I have been super curious to try my hand at making one, for a while. I didn’t get very fancy, like he does, with the music and everything. But, if you want to see my first crack at a time-lapse video, click play below, to watch Reagan and I building little Fimo guys.
