Yesterday evening, J Crew held their Fall 11 preview in the MPD. It was awesome late afternoon sun, and one side of the showroom was letting a lot of it in. Even though there isn’t much J Crew product visible in the shot above, I couldn’t help but snap it, because of the light and the awesome flares it was making in the lens. Here is the color version.

I really liked the hair color/sweater color combo in the shot above.

And the big winner of giveaway No. 4 is…. Actually let me preface this by saying, thank you-thank you for all of the comments. I love reading about what people are listening to.  I really did like them all. I could tell that each person had put some thought into what they were sharing. So, I had to resort to good old random.org. Even though it doesn’t seem very random,  random.org chose the number 1. So– congratulations, Foodie!

I’m pretty sure that Reagan has your address. But if you wouldn’t mind forwarding it in an email, the buds are yours.

Reagan was able to get to Michigan, safe and sound. Today is another blizzard, to liven up my already hectic day. That’s pretty much the gist of what’s going on over here.

Monday, I hit 3 men’s fashion trade shows. My favorite was Capsule. The photo above is of my new jacket that I picked up while I was there. Not really. It was just a sample that happened to be my size. Since it was basically the coolest thing that I had ever laid eyes on, I had to get a photo of me wearing it (thanks, Sam for snapping it).

Saturday night I spent running around town shooting nachos with one of my friends who is writing an article for Antenna Magazine. The ones below are from Pinche Taqueria on Mott St.

And finally– a shot from the bathroom at Project. Why someone had struck out 150 and scribed 138, is beyond me. But I don’t really need to know the significance, to appreciate the hands-on care that went into packaging these toilet seat covers.

Today, I woke up to freezing rain. This sucks for two reasons. A– It’s freezing rain; B– I had to postpone for the third time an editorial shoot that I have been trying to do (and looking forward to) for a month, now.

I hope Reagan comes home soon.

Don’t you love those weeks where you are so busy that they just fly past and before you even realize it, they are over? I love those weeks (but I hate when that happens on vacation). I have been too busy to even shave (see above). The shot above is perfect evidence of why I should spend my time behind the camera, not in front of it, hahaha. A guy that I was working at an event with, on Wednesday night, grabbed my camera and snapped one of me. I have seriously never felt less attractive, than I have in the couple of weeks. My tan is faded, I need a haircut, my skin is breaking out and I have bags under my eyes. Not a great combo.

Jessica White (below), on the other hand, was looking fabulous, that night. Ms. White was hosting the runway show Wednesday night. Can you believe that everyone is already starting to ramp up for fall fashion week? It is kind of exciting, because I love fashion week. But, it is kind of depressing, since that means that summer is basically done.

I dropped by PS11, again today, for Highsnob and had another great chat with my favorite Brazilian artists. Below is a shot of the finished piece, with Otavio shooting hoops in the foreground.

Thursday night, it was raining, so I didn’t run. No running today either. 14 miles tomorrow, it should be interesting, after so much time off.

I’m definitely looking forward to spending some time with Piper this weekend. Reagan and I have some pretty fun stuff planned, too.

To wrap things up– Ang tipped me off to an error that was happening in IE browsers when she was trying to comment. So, thanks for helping me troubleshoot, Ang. Also, my apologies to the other thousands, actually probably millions (hahahahaha) of people who have been experiencing the same frustrating problem while attempting to comment.

I hate to just bomb the bejeebus out of a post with endless photos, like this. But sometimes, you kinda have to. Here are a few more of my faves from Monday and Tues.

I hate to say this, but I was kind of hoping that fedoras would die out by the fall. I thought we were headed that direction too, since I have seen them stacked 20 deep on the street vendor’s tables on Broadway in Soho– with tourists buying them up at 2 for $10. I liked them so much better when they were only rocked by really old dudes, rude boy/ska kids, and jazz musicians. I wonder if we could bring back the straw pork pie. Oh well. They make for a fun photo, when all lined up like this on a rack. Hehe

Friday evening, I shot a couple of events for forthcoming SoJones pieces. The first one was a look-see event for a dress designer. The collection was cool. But my favorite part about the event was the space. It was one of those lofts with high ceilings, where everything was painted white.

Afterward, I ventured back downtown, toward the east village to cover some live music.

I wanted Reagan to come, but she was busy sewing cushions for Piper’s chair. Plus apparently she was pretty tired, since I came home to find her passed out with her book resting on her belly. Hehe. The band that I was there to cover was really cool. There was also this Russian beat box/rapper who opened for them, called Krussia. Sweet name, I know. The dude was amazing. He seriously could give Doug E Fresh a run for his money.

I met some pretty cool guys, this weekend. They are the guys behind the brand Only New York, a local street wear brand. I am going to be doing a SoJones piece on them, and was able to do a quick shoot on Sunday afternoon. They are definitely cool guys. You should definitely check out their stuff. Last night was a Karen Sabag runway show at the Altman Building in Chelsea. The venue was awesome. The ceiling in their event space is made of paver brick, which I loved. I was able to shoot the backstage, as well as the runway show. No CF card malfunctions Wednesday night. But there was a problem with the lights. Which was a bummer, because in contrast to the iFashion show, Tuesday night, Sabag, was actually properly lit. Luckily, they resolved it, after a few minutes. I was freaking out digging for my flash, for a sec. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Catch more coverage from the Sabag show on shotbyjake.com.

Last night was the iFashion runway show, featuring 3 emerging designers. I was shooting back stage, as well as the actual show. It was a lot of fun. Although, I was totally punked by one of my CF cards which failed when I as trying to retrieve the images from it. I lost about 300 of the images from the headliner’s portion of the show (and the ones that I was the most excited about). When I realized that the card was corrupted, I almost had a heart attack. All in all, I still came away with some OK, stuff. Stupid technology. Sorry that there are so many photos in this post, and I know that the watermark is annoying. Here they are anyway.
