We were able to see Piper in real life, this morning, for the first time in over a week. She definitely looked like she is doing better. It was tough for us to get a real sense of how she is feeling though, since she slept during the entire time that we were there. Her nurse said that she thinks Piper has her days and nights mixed up. I don’t blame you, lil’ Pip. If I had been drugged into a coma like they had you, I probably would have a lot more than my days and nights mixed up. Even though we were kind of bummed that we couldn’t see her awake, it was really really nice to see her, at all.

Reagan and I still aren’t feeling 100% better. But we just threw on some face masks and called it “good enough.” Although, Reagan wouldn’t wear her’s over her nose– hahaha.

Piper’s A-line is now out. So, the only remaining inter venous line is her center line. She is still getting a pretty stiff cocktail of meds through it, but in each case the dose is much smaller. Her nurse also told us that they are going to try to get her completely off of the nitric this week, as well as the morphine. She didn’t say anything about the NG tube (the one going into her nose), but hopefully that will be coming out soon, too. I’m sure that it drives Piper completely crazy. Such a tough little girl.

YAPFMDC=”yet another photo from my desk chair.” Yes, that was the best I could come up with, tonight. Apple drops an iPad, I serve up this. I haven’t been feeling particularly creative or motivated for the last couple of days. So, there it is.

Reagan and I are both still too sick to see Piper, which is a total bummer. Of course she is comatose for days, when we are at her bedside the entire time. Then as soon as she starts to make some progress, we are both out of commission. I know it sounds like I’m complaining. But I promise, I’m not. From my discussions with Piper’s nurse, she did have some problems during the night with her saturation, but was doing better again in the morning. She is now conscious for extended periods of time, and apparently not getting too upset about it. They have given her enough slack in her restraints, so that she can poke her own face, which I’m sure she is pleased with. I’m really really really hoping that at least one of us is over this bug convincingly enough , that we can pay a personal visit Thursday.

In other news– there are some very important dates coming up. First of all: Sunday is the third anniversary of Reagan and I making nuptials. Hehehe, is there really any nerdier way to write that? Doubt it. Thennnnnaaaahhhhh: Next Thursday is Reagan’s B-day!!!!!

I had to be in the office for a while on Saturday. When I arrived downtown, it was late afternoon, and it was like a ghost town. It was totally freezing outside. The only people that I really saw were occasional groups of tourists. The sun was totally lighting up the west side of the downtown post office. So I stopped to take this shot. Not the first time I have had fun with this piece. I walk past it almost every day, at least once. So, why not?

What is even better, is that after I got this shot, I was packing everything bag into my bag, when a group of tourists who were kind of off to the side watching me pulled in right behind me and started breaking out their cameras. Like run-on sentences much? This is why that’s funny (the incident, not the fact that it was expressed in a run-on sentence, it’s pretty obvious why that’s funny).

Below is a detail from the shot above.

These are some reading glasses that I got a couple of months ago to take the strain off my eyes during those long stints of staring at the monitor. Reagan and I both had some fun with them last night.

I love this pic, so much. Reagan probably won’t be too happy that I posted it. Admittedly it is not the most flattering shot of Piper, or Reagan. But, for me this shot really sums things up. It was right after Piper woke up from her nap on Sunday. Reagan put some blankets on the floor next to Piper’s crib and laid down to snuggle with her. They both seemed like they could not possibly be more content with life.

I was clearing off the memory card this morning and found this gem from Sunday. It is from our visit Sunday morning, before dropping my dad at the airport. Piper was sporting a Coolio-esqe (or maybe ODB) hair style. It was pretty cute. She was clearly loving it, showing off her little Brit teeth and all.

When I was out moving the car yesterday morning. I came across this litigation bag, next to a pile of trash. It was full of Christmas ornaments. Can you imagine trying to litigate using Christmas ornaments as files? Apparently it didn’t work out too well.

I will never get sick of watching sunsets over the harbor. So I apologize if anyone reading this, gets tired of the photos.

I’m guessing it’s because of the current phase of construction on WTC, but for whatever reason, they have the sidewalk closed along West Street. I was really annoyed about this, at first. When I have to deviate from my routines, annoyance seems to be the default attitude. Whatever grief this inconvenienceĀ  initially caused me, was quickly overcome when I peeked at this sunset. I probably would not have even noticed it, had I not been forced to take a slightly different route out of the building this evening. Thanks WTC construction guys.
