We hit Luxembourg Gardens on Sunday. It is a beautiful spot.
This was after we went through the Paris Catacombs (thanks Jon). The place is crazy. There are the remains of some six million Parisians down there.
These shots are kinda crappy because is was super dark down there and no flash is allowed. But I think that they give a sense of what it is like. I was blown away. Reagan was creeped out.
Here is my favorite shot so far– Reagan with a baguette sticking out of her backpack on our way to a picnic in the park.
One more day in Paris, then back to Spain.
We arrived in France this morning. We actually flew into a small airport in the countryside. I was a bit annoyed, at first, about having to ride on a bus for another hour to actually get to Paris. We saw some beautiful countryside though. Actually, Reagan slept. Our hotel room here is pretty tiny. Reagan on our veranda-
And now for some very touristy shots–
The sky was awesome this evening. The light in the evening seemed a bit surreal. I had the wrong lens with me to shoot the tower. So, there might be some additional ones coming.
And here is one of my favs, Reagan about to fall asleep in her tea after a long day of wandering around.
Early Sunday, Reagan and I took her family to Liberty Island. It was the first time that we had ever been there. We aimed to make it on the first boat over to the Statue of Liberty and nearly made it. We did eventually make it over to the island, but because we took a later boat over, we couldn’t spend very much time there (because we were meeting one of Reagan’s sister’s at Piper’s house). Anyway, Reagan’s fam went up into the statue pedestal. Reagan and I couldn’t go, since we had prohibited items (large umbrellas and an iPad). So we did what anyone would do and had a mini photo shoot. Hahaha.
Liberty Island is pretty awesome, but I’m not sure if it is worth all of the hassle to get over there. Here is one more pic.
Europe tomorrow.
Saturday was Piper’s birthday. I can’t really even believe it, she turned 4. We headed up to her house bright and early, and arrived just as she was waking up. Reagan dressed her in her new little yellow dress and flowery crown (that Reagan made, btw). She was also rocking some new little sunglasses from her grandma b-holt. The weather was phenomenal for hanging around outside. So we sat out on the lawn and chatted/played for a while. When it started to get overcast, we took PJ inside and played with her until she was all tuckered out. It was a really fun time. It was especially cool to have her Baker grandparents and her uncle Jesse in town, as well as her great aunt Gail, who Piper met for the first time. There are a boat load of photos below. There are even more over here.
First of all, the weather was basically heaven. This fact makes it sting a bit more that I was feeling under the weather for the entire weekend (and still am today). But I’ll take the beautiful weather, sick or not. We went kind of crazy with the photos this weekend. I’m not really sure why. Above: walking to our car to go visit PJ on Saturday. Below: Piper got her hair did.
Sunday was, of course, mothers’ day. So I started off the day taking Reagan to the Donut Plant, on the LES. They have some seriously crazy donuts there. Reagan, was going nuts. I won’t say how many she ordered (and ate, hehe).
Walking back to the car, Reagan saw these rubber bouncy horse-like things hanging from a Chinatown bodega awning and asked if we could get one for Piper.
We picked the green one. Piper was pretty stoked about her little horse. I think that she is still getting used to it. But she definitely appreciates both the practical fun aspect, as well as the humor.
After she had a chance to give her green pony a ride or two, we packed up and headed outside.

And just when you thought this post couldn’t get any more photo-heavy, here is one more fave from the weekend (ps, plenty more over here).
Saturday, Piper and I had a nice little visit. She was a in a great mood, and played until she was all tuckered out and fell asleep on my lap. Reagan returned home late Saturday night. We woke up early Sunday and visited Piper. I suppose that I should mention, the weather was beautiful all weekend long. So, we took Piper outside. Unfortunately, we were only out there for about 10 minutes before the battery started to die on the vent. Such a bummer. So we took her back inside and plugged in the vent in one of her favorite little nooks, to mess around for a while. Reagan got most of the good pics on Sunday. Probably because Piper spent most of the time climbing around on me, hahaha.
“Oh, hey. Just hanging out on dad’s shoulders”
After a while, sitting on the shoulders wasn’t cutting it. She needed to stand on my shoulders (then head).

And, there was a little dancing with Reag.
I’m so glad that spring has finally showed up in NYC. I even went for a nice run on Saturday. It was the first time all year that I have broken the 10 mile threshold. It felt pretty good, even though I ended up with a blister. I hope that everyone else had a fantastic weekend.
Last night I shot an event at the new Madewell store on lower 5th Ave. This was my second encounter with the Bumbys (Above). They are a performance duo that show up events and rate people based on their appearance. It is kind of a fun concept. Anyway, It is a total bummer that Reagan couldn’t come, because she loves the store, and she loves Alexa Chung (below), who happened to be at the party. Not much of a coincidence, actually, given that her second Madewell collection will be launching this fall. Reagan picked up a dress that Alexa designed, last fall.
“So, what did Jill Bumby have to say about your outfit?”, people might be wondering. Well, here it is:
Thanks, Jill. Lucky for me, I was wearing my green patent leather loafers. Who else is ecstatic about the fact that this week is almost over?
No photo hunt today. But see if you can spot me chatting with A. Chung in this Lucky Magazine article.
I haven’t really been shooting much, for the past couple of days. So, I thought I would post a leftover from Sunday (above). Reagan is headed out of town today, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. I only met her grandma a couple of times, but I really liked her. She was a really sweet lady. I wish that I could have gone along, but it was more than we could really arrange on such short notice. So, Piper and I will be holding down the fort for the next few days.
In other news, I have been busily working on redesigning my photog site for the last few days. The old version had some flash elements that I wanted to get rid of. Plus, I just felt like the whole look was a bit outmoded. I’m still working on polishing things up, image selection, etc. But, check it out and give me some feed back if you have a sec.
