We had a great weekend, with all sorts of patriotic activities. Sunday night, Reagan threw a bachelorette party for her friend who is getting married next weekend. I took the opportunity, while she was out, to build and install her new desk in the former guest bedroom.

She didn’t waste any time putting it to use.

Monday, we barbequed on the roof with our friends Joe, Jen and Frank (plus Nikki the dog) and lit sparklers. The sunset was basically the most amazing thing ever. Here are a few images from the festivities.

The shot below was some team work. Reag wrote “Happy,” Jen wrote “Fourth.”

The next photo was all my idea (haha). Frank shot it for us.

You will probably recognize my hand style on this one.

These were actually from over the weekend (same night as that photo of my parents on the GW, a couple of posts back). Both photos were shot facing almost straight south, from mid-span of the GW Bridge. I thought it was cool that there was such a distinct band of orange even on the horizon opposite of the sunset. I suppose that it was caused by the particulate matter in the air. Who knows? All I can say is that, I thought it was nice-looking enough to snap a few and post ‘em.

This is an image that I pieced from a few different images. Like an idiot, I had the cam set to AWB, so the WB is a bit different it each, and you can see the seams. I was feeling too lazy tonight, to fix it. But you get the idea. It was a pretty good sunset. Here is a link to an 800px tall version, if you want to check it out in your browser.

I had this thing tonight in DUMBO, and decided to walk back across the Brooklyn Bridge before catching the train. I was rewarded with this sunset. I would just like to iterate that these images are straight out of the camera, with zero editing (enhancement). It was a pretty good one.

After the blizzard from this morning blew over, it ended up being kind of a beautiful sunny day. I loved the way that the sunset was lighting up the clouds, and decided to get a couple of shots, since I had my cam with me. I decided to take a stroll down to the promenade and get some shots from water-level, since the last few sunset pics that I have taken, have been through dirty windows. I thought that it would be a good chance to get some sharp images. But, since wind was blowing about 1 million miles per hour, sea spray was blowing up all over the front of the lens. Oh well, I was pretty happy about the way these shots came out.

The DJIA closed in the positive. I had a burrito for dinner. I just found out that my dad and both of my brothers (both of which will be meeting Piper for the first time) are coming to visit next month. NJ hooked us up with a great sunset. Life is pretty good, at the moment.

I got out a bit early last night and took a stroll in Ft. Tryon. It was a good one.
