I had a really fun day hanging out with my valentines. Reagan and I work up early, because she has been building pork barbacoa for the last day and a half. She has been making the stuff in the slow cooker, for some burritos tonight. It smells totally delicious. Before heading to Westchester, we took a quick jaunt out to Williamsburg, Brooklyn so that Reagan could pick up her Valentines Day present at Catbird.

We had a pretty nice visit with Piper. She was kind of rowdy. I think that it is just because she loves her mom so much, she can’t contain herself. She was kind of obsessed with my hat, today. She kept taking it almost all of the way off of my head, then putting it back on. Then, tapping the little button on the top. Silly little monkey.

I hope that everyone else had a great Valentines Day!!

For the first time in my life, I did karaoke with Reagan and some of our friends, on Saturday night. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I was definitely the worst person in our group. But, that didn’t keep me from having fun watching everyone else. Yes, there was a kick line at one point.

After our karaoke session, we had some Korean dumplings, then spent some time browsing one of the Koreatown supermarkets. They has some seriously tasty hard candy. No, it didn’t come in the cool fish cans, above (unfortunately). I liked the fish on the cans because they look so friendly.

It was so cold, last weekend. Some of our friends ran a race in CP, that I was going to go shoot for Examiner, and I totally bailed on it, because it was so cold (I then want back to bed and slept in until after1 pm, hehe). It is still freezing outside (check out the ice flow in the Hudson, above).

I guess that I can’t really complain though. Check out the photo below from Maggie (or Ben), of Georgetown last weekend.

Despite the freezing temperatures, I’m am getting excited for Fashion Week, which begins on Thursday. Plus one of my old HS homies will be in town visiting. We are going to link up for dinner or something.

Since we didn’t really get to do much fun stuff on Reagan’s birthday, I told her that we could do whatever she wanted on Saturday. She chose to go to the Brooklyn Flea Market. It was quite a site to behold. The market is traditionally held outside. But for the winter, they moved it into the old Williamsburg Bank building. It is like a gigantic hipster garage sale.

There were a couple of things that I thought were pretty cool. Almost all of the booths had some vinyl LPs for sale. I found the original “Breakin’” soundtrack on vinyl. In the end, I decided that $5 was more than I was willing to drop, for that beauty. I still thought it was a pretty cool find.

It’s Sundance time in Park City. Being a bit of a street art aficionado, I was pretty excited to hear that Banksy was throwing up some pieces in SLC and PC, since the film “Exit through the Gift Shop,” is debuting at the film festival. I’m hoping that the art will still be there in late Feb., so that I can get some of my own shots of the work. The photo above was shot by my homey Dan Richards. He told me that this particular stencil is off of West Temple and 3rd S., in SLC.

In other news, Piper is doing about the same. She seems like she is doing better, but there is a hard balance between keeping her calm, and over-sedating her. Reagan and I plan to take a trip to Jersey tomorrow to pick up her wardrobe. Hopefully having some of her more stylish threads readily available, will motivate her to recover a little more quickly. Or, at least recover enough to not require the center line anymore, so that she can wear her normal clothes (not that her little clown print gowns aren’t cute).

For some reason, this has seemed like one of the longest weeks, ever. I’m really excited for this weekend, even though it will be a busy one. I’m probably even going to have to spend some time in the office. But for some reason, just by virtue of being the “weekend,” I can always find a degree of solace that I don’t have during the regular work days.

Saturday night, we had a really fun visit with Piper. Our friends the Smoots came with us. It was really fun to watch their little daughter Stella play with Piper. Stella was really sweet to Piper, and Piper was completely mesmerized by Stella.

Piper is moving back to Wanaque in NJ this week. Tomorrow, to be exact. We were so happy that her moved was delayed long enough that she was able to stay through Christmas at Blythedale. We really had a great long- weekend with Piper. We are being optimistic that things will continue to go well with her.

Shifting gears, we posted the “outtakes” from our Christmas card photos, over here. You may have already seen a few of them on Reagan’s Blob. Anyway, there are some pretty cute ones of Reagan and Piper, all dressed up nice.

^—-This was our block, this morning. Yes, it turned out to be a legitimate snow storm. I still think that all of the hype was a little much, though.

img_4907

Lucky for us, it apparently had been pretty windy on Ft. Washington. Because when we got to our car this morning, the wind had already done most of the job of clearing the snow off of Bebe. The rest of the job was done by the windshield wipers and sitting in a heated garage under the church. Hehe.  From the photo above, you can tell how excited Reagan was about the snow.

After church we headed up to Westchester County, to kick it with Piper. Our friend Leslie came with us. It was her first time meeting Piper. I didn’t want to say anything, but Piper was playing favorites today, and Leslie was clearly the winner. It is so cute, the way that she reaches out for people, when she is standing up, so that you can hold out your hand and let her walk over to you. She did this with Leslie more than once.

img_4919

She did smile a few times, but we could tell that she was in a really mellow mood. So, she mostly just kind of lounged around on laps, while we talked. It was definitely not a bad way to wind down the weekend.

There has been all this hype, for like 3 days now, about how we were going to be pounded with this massive storm. It is so funny to me the way that every winter, NYC pretends like it has never had a real snow storm before. The local news channels build it all up, like it will be some sort of apocalyptic free-for-all. Whatever, dude. The bodegas are still going to be open all night. Yeah, the DOS will hit a couple of cars with their plows and alternate side parking might be suspended on Monday. But really, is all of the hype necessary? I personally enjoy how quiet the city gets, when it snows like this, at night. Here are a couple of shots from our fire escape.

Saturday was the first snowfall of the season, in New York City. Of course that had to be the day that we scheduled to do the first hair shoot for Reagan’s hair site. Hahahaha. It actually ended up going very well, considering that we shot everything outside, and it rained/snowed pretty much all day long. Luckily, we did the first set pretty close to our apt., pretty early in the morning before the really bad weather rolled in. The second part, we did under the Brooklyn Bridge, at the banks.

Reagan’s hair models were some friends that we met through my sister Sarah. They are both from Alaska, and happen to be in college together on Long Island. They were kind enough to make the trip into the city (and up to WaHi) so that Reagan could play with their hair, and take pictures of it. The shot above, is Haleigh, at the banks. Below is Brittany at Ft. Tryon.

In the afternoon, I was in Brooklyn doing some photos for a band called Game Rebellion (below). They were really cool guys and I had a lot of fun doing it.

Piper had her fancy pants on, and was dancing around pretty much all weekend. It was really fun being able to see Piper for so many days, this week. It is really amazing how quickly standing has become one of her favorite things to do. She would probably sleep standing up, if she could figure out how to do it. It is so cute to watch her dance and wiggle around, while tapping and grabbing everything in reach. It is a lot easier to get her to take little steps now, too. She is clearly becoming a lot more sure of her little legs and feet.

Sunday, our intention was to head straight up to Westchester after church and spend all day there. But the long weekend caught up to us, and we ended up taking some serious naps. So, we didn’t get to Blythedale until after the sun had gone down. It was nice, though to get in a little rest. It is really mellow in the hospital at night. Piper had just dozed off and was out cold when we arrived. We got her out anyway and took turns holding her. She must have had a pretty great weekend too, judging by how deeply she was sleeping.
