1wfc.jpg Yeah, the Wall Street Journal’s business offices are located in a couple of the lower floors of our building. Apparently there were some suspicious letters from Tennessee containing white powder that were delivered here today. It appears that some of the packages were also opened. While it is probably nothing, the 9th-12th floors have been evacuated. Here is the Daily Intel Article about it. Here is the WSJ article about it. It would be nice if we could also be evacuated. I’m sure that the officials running the investigation, calling the shots etc., have reasons for their decisions. But it is a little disconcerting to have to sit here and wait for people to figure out what is going on. I feel kind of itchy and feverish at even the thought that some sort of biological or chemical agent could be circulating through our ventillation system. Not to mention that I jump every time that I hear someone have a coughing fit. Anyway, didn’t the guy behind the last Anthrax threat/scare end up killing himself? What is going on here? Cross your fingers for the hard working un-evacuated tenants of 1 WFC.

I took this shot of the WFC  winter garden, last night on my way out. This time of year, it really lives up to its name. The picture doesn’t really do it justice. The lights juxtaposed with the palm trees, create a kind of cool motif. Even though it is a very large space, it certain felt cozy in there last night watching the snow fall outside. Tomorrow is my last day of work, until January. I am pretty much counting down the minutes.

I guess that is sounds rather cliche, being that I am male, but I freaking love cars. I love them almost as much as I love motorcycles (which is a lot). Last night when I left work, I wandered around the winter garden and took a bunch of shots with my blackberry. When I was looking at them last night, I was convinced that the crappy little 2 MP resolution was not going to cut it. So I took some more pics today with a normal camera. I want to get some more tonight though. Because I really like the directly overhead lighting a lot better than the way the lighting was today. Anyway, if you want to check out the flickr set from today. Here is the link.

This whole autoexpo has a tinge of irony that I can’t help noticing. The majority of it is laid out right next to Merrill Lynch’s turnstiles. “Hey guys, if you still have a job at the end of the week, wanna buy an exotic car?” I really can’t get over all of the crap that is going on right now. I have spared myself from reading dealbook today, just because it gets me so depressed.

On a totally unrelated note. I am entertained by the fact that I’m a walking contradiction today. I’m wearing a Brooks Brothers shirt and American Eagle Khakis. Hahahaha

I remembered seeing some banners about the motor expo when I was walking out of work Friday evening. But I had totally forgotten over the weekend. If I could come around the corner every Monday morning on my way into the office and see a couple of beautiful Maseratis, instead of the usual geriatric tour group blocking my path, I think that I would actually look forward to coming in on Monday mornings.
